Yunan Wang, the New York City based fashion and textile designer recently graduated from Parsons the new school for design and presented her thesis collection. Designer explored and developed a series of textile treatments which inspired from the Iceland trip. All pieces were elevated by an impeccably-pitched color palette of icy blues, grey, black and whites accessorized with iceland shades. Natural cotton, silk wool and wood are all treated with different synthetic mediums to depict the touched nature of Iceland. The wax dipped cotton jacket with transparent coating is a reminiscent of the naked soil with cracked ice. The texture of the wax is permanently sealed by the chemical while the glacier of Iceland is melting away. The embroidered wave with plastic beading is an image of the lonely remains of glacier while the sprayed panels with sand texture are vivid memories of the Blue Lagoon, which is formed by the used water from electricity generator. All details added to the ever-important element of the collection that was cleverly shown alongside Yunan’s unique style offering for women.
